CURRICULUM VITAE
Marianne
Smit (1984) plays the harp since 1995. She got her first harp lessons from her
mother Gertru Smit-Pasveer. After one year she became student of Anke Anderson.
As of September 1998 she is a student of Erika Waardenburg, first in the
Young-Talent department, later in the pre-music-academy of Amsterdam. She's
currently in the fourth year.
Marianne has won various first prices at concours, e.g. the
Prinses Christina
Concours (1998 and 2002) and at the concours of the SJMN (Dutch
Foundation Young Musictalent, 1998, 2002 and 2004).
In 2000 she reached the final at the Dutch National Harpconcours.
Marianne followed masterclasses with prominent harpists such as Daphne Boden,
Isabelle Perrin,
Maria Graf en Emilia Moskvitina. Additionally she participated in the
audtion training by
Petra van der Heide.
Marianne performs concerts on a regular basis; thus she participated in the
lunch concerts in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, in the Nieuwe kerk in Den Haag
and in the Provinciehuis in Haarlem.
In july 2003 she performed as solist with the
Dutch Youth String Orchestra
in three concerts (conducted by
Johannes Leertouwer) in St. Petersburg.
World renouned composer Karlheinz Stockhausen recently composed a piece for
Marianne and Esther Kooi. This new composition, 'Freude
für zwei Harfen', premiered on June 7th 2006 in the Duomo of Milan.
